How Made Factory-made tubular pasta characterized by its oblique cut. It exists in both smooth and ridged versions, in different sizes, and is boiled in abundant salted water.

Also Known As Depending on size, mostaccioli, mostaccioli rigati, penne a candela, penne di Natale (Christmas; also called natalini), penne di ziti, penne di ziti rigati, penne di zitoni, penne rigate, pennoni, ziti tagliati, ziti tagliati rigati, and zitoni tagliati.

For the smallest size, penne di mezzane, pennette, pennette di mezzane rigate, pennette rigate, pennettine, pennettine rigate, pennine, pennine rigate, pennuzze, and pennuzze rigate. For the largest size, pennoni and zitoni, both cut on the bias and cut straight, and both smooth and ridged.
