  • About
Muesli bars or flapjacks have long been popular with all ages. The traditional versions are made with oats mixed with generous amounts of butter, sugar and syrup, and are full of energy but not very healthy. This book gives more modern takes on these favourite snacks, using less fat with reduced amounts of sugar, and additional flavour and nutrition provided by spices, dried fruit, fresh fruit, nuts and seeds.
WHAT INGREDIENTS DO YOU NEED?
  • Fresh fruits, especially those classed as superfoods such as blueberries or bananas, make an excellent nutritional addition to any bar or flapjack.
  • Grains are the basis of all muesli bars; choose from porridge (rolled) oats, buckwheat, rye or quinoa flakes.
  • Adding seeds and nuts is an easy way to boost protein levels. As they do not contain the whole range of amino acids that the body needs to make protein, combine with other foods such as soya products and grains.
