If you suffer with coeliac disease you will have to avoid gluten for life. Reducing gluten in your diet may also be useful if you suffer with digestive issues, such as bloating or flatulence, but otherwise do get some advice before cutting out a food group, as there may be other reasons why your digestion is playing up.
When cutting out foods, it’s always good to focus on those you can have, rather than those you can’t! There are lots of naturally gluten-free foods available – fruit, vegetables, eggs, fish, seafood, meat, poultry, dairy products, beans, legumes and nuts. And there are many naturally gluten-free grains that can be enjoyed – corn, teff, flax, chia, nut flours, amaranth, buckwheat, millet, quinoa, tapioca and rice.
