  • About

Many clients that come to me suffer from a leaky gut or intestinal hyperpermeability. This is a condition that is not recognised by most medical doctors, and many think this is an imaginary condition made up by complementary therapists. However, there is now evidence that this is a real condition, where the lining in the small intestine is damaged, and toxins, food and bacteria leak into the bloodstream. Leaky gut is characterised by bloating, gases, pains, food sensitivities, cramps, tiredness and ‘brainfog’. Leaky gut can lead to other digestive disorders and there is a belief that it could be a root cause of many modern diseases including autoimmune disease. There are functional medicine tests for leaky gut that can be organised by a Nutritional Therapist or Naturopath.
