  • About
The Snickers candy bar, produced by Mars, Inc., built on the success of earlier peanut and chocolate candies, including the Goo Goo Cluster (1913), Goldenberg’s Peanut Chews (1922) and Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups (1928). Snickers was created in 1929 by Frank Mars and his family. It was first sold to the public the following year. Named for the Mars family horse, the Snickers bar was composed of peanut butter nougat, peanuts, and caramel encased in milk chocolate. Snickers were hand wrapped until 1944, at which time wrapping was automated.
