blue-mouth Helicolenus dactylopterus, a fish of the family Scorpaenidae (see scorpion fish) and thus related to, but inferior to, the rascasse and the redfish. Maximum length 45 cm (18"); red above and rosy below; the mouth and pharynx blue. A fish of moderately deep waters, known on both sides of the N. Atlantic and in the W. Mediterranean.
