  • About

cherry plum Prunus cerasifera, a plum which is also known by the old name myrobalan plum. It is round, with a tiny point at the end away from the stalk, and larger than a cherry but smaller than most plums: typically about 3 cm (just over 1") in diameter. The usual colour is red, but some cultivars have amber or yellow fruits. It is thought to have originated in W. Asia and the Caucasus and is used in cooking in SE Europe and the Near East.
