parmentiera a C. American tree, Parmentiera aculeata, which produces cucumber-shaped fruit, yellow-green and fluted. It is also known as the food candle tree and as guachilote (from an Aztec name), and has been cultivated in Mexico, Guatemala, and El Salvador. The fruit is sweet and can be eaten fresh, cooked, or pickled.
