Vandyking a method of cutting off the top of a fruit or vegetable with a zigzag cut, so that it can be replaced. The technique is well suited to grapefruits and tomatoes. Its name alludes to the pointed beards which are familiar from the numerous portraits painted by the artist van Dyck.
