wampee (or wampi) the Malay name for Clausena lansium, a Chinese fruit tree which is cultivated there, in SE Asia, and in the W. Indies. It bears clusters of small yellow-green fruits which resemble miniature limes. These contain an aromatic, mildly acid pulp which is pleasant to eat when the fruit is fully ripe. Jams are made of it.
