Mrs. Kermode says: ‘We have an old custom on Good Friday of going to collect fritters (limpets) on the rocks to fry for supper,’ and Mrs. Ampercy, of the Museum, Douglas, writes:

‘On Good Friday, we collected sacks of fritters on the rocks and fried them for supper.’
