Dissolved in water and used to enhance the colour and look of dishes. Use sparingly, as it is highly concentrated. Contains tartrazine, a synthetic yellow food dye. There has been some noted intolerance of this ingredient, with side effects such hyperactivity and asthma. Substitute with saffron or turmeric.
