  • About

‘Gefilte fish’ is the answer you normally get when you ask someone what Jewish food is. Well, not in Jerusalem, at least not for everyone. Sami, needless to say, didn’t have it until the age of 18. But he isn’t Jewish. Yotam’s first memory of this dish is from the age of 10, when the school initiated an evening of culinary exchange and asked every child to bring food representing his community — something typical of the country his parents or grandparents came from. Luckily for Yotam he could bring a pizza made by his dad and so quadrupled his popularity swiftly and effortlessly. Others were less fortunate. They brought gefilte fish.
