Black Sea Salmon Trout

Salmo Trutta Labrax Pallas

Appears in

By Alan Davidson

  • About

Family Salmonidae

REMARKS A large and magnificent fish with which to end this part of the catalogue. It often weighs 7 kg, and may even weigh as much as 24. Its general appearance is like that of the Atlantic salmon trout. It may or may not be marked by black spots. It ascends the Black Sea rivers, on the way to its spawning grounds, in the spring. Unfortunately, it has become rather rare.
