REMARKS Maximum length 50 cm. Like the Atlantic mackerel, but with more discreet markings on the back, dusky spots on the underside and bigger eyes. Also found throughout the Mediterranean, and in the Black Sea. One of the fish taken in large quantities by Maltese fishermen.
