  • About

Family Thunnidae

REMARKS Maximum length 127 cm. A fish of the seven seas, but not so common in the Mediterranean, where it is most commonly found off the western coast of Italy, around Sicily and in Greek waters. Easily recognized by its long pectoral fins (to which the name alalunga refers). The back is dark blue, the flesh lighter in colour than that of the bluefin tuna.
