Lobster

Homarus Gammarus (Linnaeus)

Appears in

By Alan Davidson

Published 1981

  • About

Family Nephropidae

REMARKS The largest crustacean in the Mediterranean, attaining a length of 60 cm. Dark blue in colour. The lobster is not plentiful in the Mediterranean, and not easily fished, for its size means that lobster pots must be large, and they have to be placed in suitably rocky spots at a fair depth. The high price of the lobster should not therefore cause surprise.
