Flexopecten Glaber (Linnaeus)

Appears in

By Alan Davidson

  • About

REMARKS Maximum length 8 cm. Whereas the pilgrim scallop described is not found in the eastern Mediterranean, and is now less common than it   used to be in the western and central parts,    Flexopecten glaber is quite common throughout the Mediterranean and the Black Sea. Its shell is smooth, and some authors have given it the English name of smooth scallop, although it does not occur in British waters.
