Little Cuttlefish

Sepiola Rondeleti Steenstrup

Appears in

By Alan Davidson

Published 1981

  • About

Family Sepiolidae

REMARKS This smaller version of the cuttlefish has two ‘ears’ projecting towards the rear of its body. Its maximum mantle length is only 2.5 cm.

Another little cuttlefish, shown at the foot of the page, is Rossia macrosoma (Delle Chiaje). It attains a slightly greater size, which accounts for the paradoxical Italian name seppiola (the diminutive of seppia) grossa (big). It is known as choco or globito in Spain.
