  • About
Melons, pumpkins, Savoy cabbages, aromatic herbs and many other fruits and vegetables are cultivated in the fertile plains of Lombardy, while the forested valleys provide chestnuts and wild mushrooms in the autumn. Beans and wild herbs are picked in the summer and put away for the winter.
The Calvenzano melon, from a small municipality south of Bergamo, is protected by a Slow Food Presidium. The variety has a netted, thick rind and a dense, sugary, very fragrant flesh with a beautiful warm orange colour.
