Salted, sun-dried anchovies are much loved in Indonesia. They are available in different sizes, and the ones I use are barely an inch long. The fish are fried until crispy, mixed with peanuts and sambal, and eaten as a snack served with Nasi Uduk or stirred into Nasi Liwet. You can buy them in plastic bags at Asian markets.
