Leucoagaricus pilatianus (Demoulin) Bon & Boiffard syn. Lepiota pilatiana Demoulin (illustrated 40% life size) Cap 3–7cm across; chestnut-brown, darker in the centre; finely scaly. Stem 50–90×4–100mm, with swollen base; light chestnut-brown towards base; distinct ring rather low on the stem. Flesh white, only very slightly reddening; taste and smell slight. Gills free; white. Spores 5.5–8×3–4.5¼, ellipsoid. Spore print white. Cheilocystidia present. Habitat in mixed woods, often in disturbed places, this collection found under yew; summer to autumn. Very rare on Red Data List. Poisonous.
