  • About

One of many plants with South and Southeast Asian origins but pantropical distribution, taro (Colocasia esculenta) has been used in India for a long time both for its arrow-shaped leaves and for its corms or tubers, which can be the size of marbles or melons. Taro leaves can be found at West Indian or Philippine markets, Indian markets occasionally, or farmers’ markets, sold by Philippine and Southeast Asian vendors, who also sell taro stem for slicing and stir-frying. Corms can be found at Chinese, Philippine, and Southeast Asian markets.
