REMARKS Maximum length 60 cm, usual length 35 to 40 cm. Greyish green above, silvery below. The range of the species is from Maine down to Florida. It is of some commercial importance, for example in the Chesapeake Bay area. It may be prepared like the other shad described in the preceding entries.
