  • About

Family Gadidae

REMARKS Maximum length just over 1 metre. This species, of which the French Canadian name is merluche blanche, occurs from Newfoundland to Cape Hatteras. It is not a true hake, but it does resemble the hake in having two dorsal fins and one anal fin; so the name white hake is less inappropriate than Boston ling. Although edible, it is not fished or eaten extensively.
