  • About

Family Gadidae

REMARKS Maximum length up to 130 cm. This species is also called red hake and squirrel ling. Some authorities believe that it cannot really be distinguished from the preceding species; others point to the longer filamentous ray of the first dorsal fin and other differences which they think sufficient, and sufficiently constant, to justify the maintenance of two species. There certainly seems to be nothing to choose between them from the gastronomic point of view.
