REMARKS Maximum length, not counting the claws, 24 cm. The carapace is pale pink, rose or orange-red; the claws are banded in red and white.

The Norway lobster lives on a muddy sea bottom, in burrows, from which it emerges at night to seek food. Its range is from Iceland down to Morocco and the west and central Mediterranean. There is a numerous colony in the Adriatic, which has for long been exploited by the Italians.
