Also known as Chenango Strawberry, this variety comes from New York, where it originated in the mid-eighteenth century. The fruit is medium in size, with yellow and white skin heavily striped in red. The flesh is unusual: white with random red and pink marbling throughout. This pretty apple is a good choice for eating fresh or for cooking. Season: Mid- to late fall; does not keep well.
