  • About

Macadamias, the king of all nuts, are indigenous to Australia and were named for a chemist from that country, Dr. John Macadam. In the late 1800s, the nuts were brought to Hawaii and planted at Kukuihaele on the big island. It was not long before the macadamia industry was in full bloom. Today macadamias comprise the island’s third most important agricultural commodity, exceeded only by sugar and pineapple, and Hawaii accounts for approximately 90 percent of the world’s macadamia nut production.
