  • About

Originally bred in Italy, this plum came to France in the sixteenth century. Claude, wife of François I, gave her name to the fruit, and it is still known in France as the reineclaude. The English name comes from Sir William Gage, who is credited with bringing the plum to England. The fruit is round and medium in size. It has greenish-yellow skin with a touch of red. The flesh is green. This plum is a good choice for eating fresh and for cooking. Variety: European; early season.
