Mangó, mango (Mangifera indica)

One of the most delicious of tropical fruits which is being shipped in large quantities to northern markets, especially in April and May. When ripe, the orange flesh is sweet, juicy, and aromatic. Unripe or green mangoes form the basis of many chutneys. Ripe mangoes may be eaten raw or used for making jams, preserves and sherbet.
