Ground provisions a mixture of starchy vegetables and tubers such as yam, sweet potato, eddoes, dasheen, taro, cassava, breadfruit, plantain, and green bananas (also known as green fig). Boiled and served as a side dish, it is referred to as ‘ground provisions’ throughout the Caribbean, except Jamaica where it is known as ‘hard food’.
