Palava this is a dish worth making a fuss about. A traditional West African dish, it features a mixture of spinach or beet leaves, dried prawns, smoked fish and meat, and is thickened with egusi or melon seeds. It is thought to be the basis for callaloo, having been brought to the Caribbean by slaves.
