Mostarda di Cremona

  • About
Also called mostarda di frutta, this is a piquant preserve which is traditionally served with the boiled meats of Bollito Misto. It is made of candied fruits such as peaches, apricots, pears, figs and cherries, which are preserved in a honey, white wine and mustard syrup.
When the late Elizabeth David came to the River Cafe, she told us of a stall in the Venice market where you could buy home-made mostarda. We have yet to track it down.
