This is the only red varietal that is allowed by law in Alsace and the least common one as well, even as the grape has been becoming more famous in the region. Today the best Alsatian Pinot Noirs can rival the great red Burgundies. Look for the Pinot Noirs from the Furstentum Grand Cru made by Domaine Paul Blank.
