A northern Indian spice mix which means ‘warming spice mix’, it mostly contains coriander, cumin, cardamom, black pepper, cloves, cinnamon and nutmeg. There are many versions and you can buy ready-ground mixes or make your own. Garam masala is usually added to meat dishes as a final seasoning.
