Very thin, edible sheets of silver. They have no flavour or aroma and come in boxes or books between sheets of tissue paper. Always apply the silver to the food from the backing sheet and then pull off the backing sheet. If you touch the foil it will stick to you. Silver leaf does not go on in an even layer because it is so fragile.
