If some readers are too young or inexperienced to have enjoyed the clean crunch and sweet grassy perfume of this refreshing cucurbit as it is meant to be, they can (albeit with some effort) find examples of the real thing at farmers’ markets and Asian groceries (Japanese, Middle Eastern, Indian, etc.).
