Yautía/malanga lila or malanga colorada (Xanthosoma violaceum), or simply lila—in Cuban groceries here—has the same club-shaped exterior and scruffy look as the blanca, but the interior is light graylavender. Its texture is heavier than the white, as is the flavor, which has a bacon-like edge. The lavender does not stay when cooked, but turns a putty greige.
