  • About

counterfeit wine, has, alas, become more common as fine wine has become more valuable. Wine of all sorts has been subject to adulteration and fraud for centuries but the escalation in prices of the most sought-after names, the rapid increase in the number of (often inexperienced) collectors, and the fact that a fine wine may be consumed many years after it was bought combined to provide irresistible opportunities for fraudsters in general and counterfeiters in particular in the late 20th and early 21st centuries.
