  • About

Within the eu, there are now two broad categories for wine—with or without geographical indication. Within these broad categories there are more precise designations. The former includes both Protected Designation of Origin (pdo) and Protected Geographical Indication (pgi), while the latter includes what used to be referred to as ‘table wine’. Within the US, wines between 7 and 14% alcohol are designated table wine while those over 14%, whether sweet or dry, fortified or not, are officially designated dessert wine.
