Rust, important wine town on the western shore of the neusiedlersee in the Burgenland region of austria historically famous for the production of sweet white ausbruch wines but now also for high-quality reds mainly from Blaufränkisch and Zweigelt and some excellent dry white wines. Rust is also the base of the Austrian Wine Academy, the largest wine education centre in mainland Europe.
