single-vineyard wines, wines made from the produce of one vineyard, and sometimes a single block within a vineyard, are becoming increasingly common throughout the world of wine. Arguably most of the better wines of germany, austria, and the Côte d’Or in burgundy were the prototypes. (Many Bordeaux châteaux are made up of several non-contiguous plots.) That the phenomenon is becoming so popular outside Europe suggests that the concept of terroir is widely embraced by producers in the new world.
