Wood-fired Oven Cookbook

By Holly Jones and David Jones

Published 2016

  • About
For the best use of your oven, you should consider cladding it with insulation and covering it to protect it from the weather. Insulating the oven is critical for fuel use, as a well-insulated oven will use less wood to feed the fire and will reach the temperature you want more quickly. A wooden roof will keep the worst of the weather off the oven roof and the insulating materials. You will need a space between the wooden roof and the top of the oven and insulation so that there is easy access to the oven. A dry oven will be ready to cook in a much quicker time than a wet one, in which the fire will be using lots of energy to dry out the wet surroundings before it starts to cook.
