For a flared loop, a single strand of light ribbon on the right is linked to a single strand of dark ribbon on the left. Both light and dark ribbons become double strands.

Make a loop with the dark-colored double strands and lay it flat on your working surface.

Lay the double strands of light ribbon over the dark loop, then weave them under the dark strands on the left.

Continue to weave with the double light strands: over, then under the dark ribbons, and then over the light and under the dark ones.
