Plain buttercream is a great base for lots of other flavours and textures: the following recipes are the ones we use on our layer cakes, topped loaves and cupcakes. The trick is to follow the recipe so you have a lovely, smooth, soft buttercream before you add in the additional flavouring. We’re not big on artificial colours and flavours so these additions are all natural.
