A number of years ago, Jo approached us at the Star to see if we would be interested in selling some of her produce which was surplus to requirements from the small estate of Mount St John, nestled above the little village of Felixkirk, at the foot of the steep Sutton Bank.

Interest wasn’t a problem as soon as we saw the produce. They say that quality speaks for itself and the harvest of fruit and vegetables we were shown were, I’m sure, sniggering at the rest of the goods we had to offer. These were soon to be elbowed to one side by Jo and her bundle of multi-coloured gems. She supplies Spiky Orange Cucumbers, bales of bottlegreen “Cavolo Nero”, Redbor Curly Kale, techni-coloured tomatoes of all shapes and sizes...incredible!, still drenched with dew as each harvest is cut, dug or tugged from the earth at 5am each morning. Jo creates an image of the ideal world which we at the Star are very lucky to be involved with, whereas a lot of establishments miss out on the bounty of local produce. We have seen the ‘Bright Lights’ of the Rainbow Chard and long may it continue, keep digging!
