Up in Northumberland at Tiptoe farm in the River Till valley, Lucy and Anthony Carroll are taking the appeal of potatoes to a whole new level. They grow over 18 varieties of Heritage potatoes, each with different eating qualities for specific jobs in the kitchen.
Many of the potatoes date back to the late 1800s, with names like Dunbar Rover, Arran Victory and Edzell Blue. There are no gimmicks with Carroll’s Heritage. Even the naturally blue-fleshed varieties are full of flavour - perfect to brighten up salads to shock your guests.
