How you stand as a chef is important. If you don’t stand properly you’ll put pressure on your back which will then affect your neck and your knees. The late Andrew Fairlie believed that learning how to stand as a chef was as important as learning how to use a knife and that both had to be learned early.

“If you don’t stand properly you will have back problems later,” he explained. “This will cause you problems later and possibly even end your career.”
So, how should you stand? The key is balance.
