  • About
I opened up Lichfield’s one Monday morning hoping for an easier day than the previous Saturday, when various increases in numbers on tables already booked and people swapping tables, Michael Winner fashion, had resulted in one party eating at the reception desk. While these complications were being sorted out, the gents’ loo had started flushing uncontrollably and had covered a fair amount of the basement floor before being discovered, which meant turning off the water. This in turn meant we couldn’t use the dishwasher and there was no water in the now unisex ‘ladies’ for washing hands. Well, I thought as we manned the bilge pumps, worse things happen at sea.
